We at Barrett Early Learning Center believe that a parent or legal guardian is an integral and indispensable part of a child's educational process, an essential determinant of the future success of the child.
Involvement of parents and guardians is encouraged and facilitated through volunteerism, parent-teacher events, parent education and development workshops and other family oriented events.
Referrals for families and children are provided to appropriate community resources or agencies as appropriate (e.g. health care providers, social services, emergency services, counseling, etc.).
Parents and children are requested to visit the Center prior to enrollment to see if and how the Center may meet their individual needs.
Barrett Early Learning Center is a state licensed facility providing services to children ranging in age from 2 to 5 years. Enrollment is open to any child of the appropriate age without regard to race, sex, creed, religion or national origin.
Our purpose is to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for children, and to ensure that they have opportunities for physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth. The goal of Barrett Early Learning Center is to promote and foster growth and development in young children by providing a high quality child care environment that offers a variety of sensory, language, cognitive and social experiences which generate a love for learning and prepare children for grade school.
We believe that a child's early years provide the foundation for growth and development for the rest of his or her life. We believe that excitement for learning is best generated in a setting that presents challenging and supportive experiences which encourage creative thinking and problem solving; allows decision- and choice-making within appropriate limits, and fosters love and respect for self and others. We believe that parents are an integral part of the educational process and encourage their participation in all Center activities and events.
The Center uses a variety of resources as a guide to address all aspects of a child's development: cognitive/intellectual, physical and social-emotional. Teachers offer developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage active exploration and hands on learning. Ongoing assessment of children's skills, needs and abilities influences the teachers' planning and teaching.
